In early December LCLC members had a privilege to attend an event organised by the City Club Alliance (CCA). The CAA initiative promotes the close co-operation between the various Eastern European/CIS member organisations and has members from the Bulgarian, Polish, Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Serbian, Romanian, Russian, Hungarian, Kazakh and other City Clubs with over 5000 members.
This time event attendees had a pleasure to meet Marianne Abib-Pech – ex-CFO of Shell Aviation and Author of the Financial Times Guides ''Leadership - How to lead effectively and get results''. Marianne started her own leadership journey in Arthur Andersen and rose from analyst to Global CFO of Shell Aviation, a multi-billion turnover business, in the short span of 10 years. She acquired and further honed her leadership skills through the High Potential programme at General Electric and more generally by experiencing four different industries, working in five different countries and with more than 45 different nationalities.
During the evening Marianne kindly shared her journey as a business leader, including pitfalls and success stories. She also presented her views on what kind of leadership skills could be valued more in the nearest future. An insightful presentation was followed by many questions and Marianne’s practical answers and examples.
CCA evening continued with a reception. Such networking events present City professionals with a great possibility to broaden personal and professional horizons, establish strong platform for future networking and make new friends who share the same interests.
