On the 16th of October, LCLC invited Lithuanian community in the UK to a discussion with Vygaudas Ušackas, the head of the EU delegation in the Russian Federation. Mr. Ušackas shared his insights on the crisis in Ukraine, the situation in Russia and the diplomatic relationships between the EU and Russia.
LCLC members also had an opportunity to continue a discussion on these and a range of other topics, including Lithuania’s economic priorities, dual citizenship, electronic voting, and ways in which Lithuanian diaspora can contribute to the prosperity of Lithuania, during the dinner afterwards.
Vygaudas Ušackas is a Lithuanian diplomat, the founder of the Lithuanian City of London Club and its’ honorary member. Since September 2013 he has been the head of the EU’s delegation in Russia. Prior to that he served as the head of the EU mission for Afghanistan. He has also led Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was the Ambassador of Lithuania to the United States and Mexico, and then from 2006 until 2008 Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
