LCLC Flag raised on top of Mont Blanc (Photo)
July 30, 2009
The idea to summit Mont Blanc (at 4,810m the highest summit in Western Europe) came to life right after 2008 trip to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania (see previous posts). This time round two LCLC members Darius Daubaras and Egis Rimkus raised up to a challenge. Having spent four days practicing ice & rock climbing on lower peaks in France and Italy the two Lithuanians (together with a local guide Richard) set out on a 17 hours hike for the summit during very early hours on 30th Jul 2009. With extremely strong winds on higher parts of the mountain the summiting conditions were far from the best, nevertheless the Lithuanian and LCLC flags were raised by Egis on the summit at about noon.
