LCLC members' wakeboarding Saturday
November 6, 2014
"Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
— Samuel Johnson

And who would have thought of London as an excellent place for wakeboarding? One can indeed find everything in this city.

On one Saturday in July, 15 water enthusiasts met up in Royal Victoria Docs for a day of boarding. Instructions, warm up and off we went. Between paddleboarders enjoying sights of London and wakeboarders having their faces more often in water we had a day to remember - particularly the following day, with sore yet happy bodies.

The activity was followed by a lively late lunch at Nakhon Thai restaurant. During lunch our charity group ran a merchandise sale (LCLC t-shirts) with all proceeds going to Caritas charity initiative to acquire window blinds in a children's day centre.  A substantial amount was raised and a big thank you goes to everyone who participated in improving lives of children back home.

The project was successfully implemented and a gratitude message from Caritas received:

"For a long time we have dreamt about having window blinds in our day centre. All of our activities are taking place on the ground floor and often we would get an audience peaking through the windows while children are engaged in creativity, drawing, drama activities and that was a disturbance. Last week our dream came true - we are very pleased with the new, bright window blinds that now guarantee a safer and calmer environment for children's activities.
We are grateful to the members of the Lithuanian City of London Club who supported the purchase of the blinds."
