Members and fellows of LCLC enjoyed an outstanding evening on the 18th of July when they met Mr. Vygaudas Ušackas and his wife Loreta.
Vygaudas Ušackas is a Lithuanian diplomat, the founder of the Lithuanian City of London Club and its’ honorary member. Since September 2013 he has been the head of the EU’s delegation in Russia. Prior to that he served as the head of the EU mission for Afghanistan. He has also led Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was the Ambassador of Lithuania to the United States and Mexico, and then from 2006 until 2008 Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Mr. Ušackas was highly interested in current activities and future plans of LCLC. The most important current political and economic issues were discussed as well, especially the crisis in Ukraine and Gaza. He highly supported the idea expressed by LCLC members that a broader discussion is needed on how Lithuanian diaspora should act in case of political, economic or military threat to Lithuania. Such a discussion is planned to be held in the nearest future.
